she liked Imaginary Men best of all

I’ve written a book!

So it is clear that my attention to this blog has fallen by the wayside the last few years. There are many reasons for that including, but not limited to: a real, non-imaginary-man boyfriend, a house and a dog.

There is another reason that will be far more interesting to you which is that I have been writing a book! If you’ve liked what goes on here (when things were, you know, actually going on) then I guarantee you will like

I’m not dead! I’m feeling much better!

Soooooo…I haven’t posted in over two weeks! Probably the longest hiatus in my blogging “career” so far 😦

Apologies – I blame (in no particular order): a hellish cold that wouldn’t go away, a Boy, a Boy Drama, the time change, a birthday, a massive early snowstorm that knocked out power and cell phone service, a postponed trip to Las Vegas and a trip to Florida to see The Killers. WHEW!

But I have a lot to talk about so don’t you worry! Like my awesome Parks and Rec themed birthday goodies, the photo I wanted to post on my birthday (hint: it involves these two), and the AMAZING shows this weekend which reminded me why Brandon Flowers is So Fucking Awesome (and pretty. SO. PRETTY.)

Stay tuned!!!

Flowers Friday: Happy Killers-versary! edition

September 4th marked the 2nd Anniversary of Sarah and I going to see The Killers at the Boston Garden, and coming out total, raging, obsessed Fangirls. Life has not been the same since! We got to spend our Killers-versary together watching The Killers Live at Royal Albert Hall, and eating cake. (It was morning and it was coffee cake, but still – cake!)

That fateful concert and the start of this blog happened at about the same time so I can easily chart the rise of The Obsession here. From the first days of finding any little reason to post about Brandon Flowers (he likes U2!) to going to Las Vegas (he likes frozen custard!), from hoping he’d do a solo album, to throwing a party when he did, to the start of a weekly Flowers Friday post. It’s almost sweet to see me go from besotted to Stalker in only two short years 😉

There’s been some craziness along the way, a whole lot of money spent, a whole lot of sleep lost and miles traveled – but it has all been more than worth it. In November Sarah and I will get to see them (for only the second time!! That seems impossible!) at Orlando Calling along with many of the amazing friends I’ve made since falling in love with this band – and this man – who pretty much had me eating out of the palm of his hand the second he walked on to that stage in Boston.

Happy Branniversary!!

And the weeks fly by, and the years roll on….

This was already a year ago:

From the second that he took the stage, to the moment where he stepped on my crap, it was the first night that launched 8 more nights like it across five states and two countries; it drained my wallet, deprived me of sleep, got me sick a few times but was one of the most fun – exciting – exhilarating – insane years of my entire life spent with some amazing friends who shared in every crazy moment with me.

And it all began a one year ago tonight in Fabulous Las Vegas.

It’s Brandon Flowers Birthday. Why do we have to go to work?!?

I feel I may have set the bar too high last year when I wrote a Dustland Fairytale ode to Brandon Flowers on his 29th birthday!

Now it’s his 30th Birthday and I’m not sure how to mark it here. I mean, when in the last year you’ve decorated a public garden with his image, made a gingerbread man in his likeness, put his beautiful face all over a calendar, thrown a flamingo themed party to celebrate his album, chased him down the Eastern Seaboard, flown to Vegas on two weeks notice for 38 hours – 4 months to the day when you flew to Vegas on 3 weeks notice for his first ever solo show, gone to ENGLAND to see him, and been lucky enough to meet him several times – just how DO you celebrate this milestone???

How about this?

My life in infinitely better because of him. My BranFandom has given me friends, adventures, fun, music, joy and brought my Fangirling to all new levels of insanity. He makes my life better. That may sound crazy to some – but I know plenty of people who will nod their heads here in agreement – if not for him than for someone who they are grateful to have gracing their lives with their talent.

From the moment I first saw him perform in 2009, to yesterday when this incredible portrait (yes, that is a PAINTING!!) was revealed, he has kept me intrigued every single day with what he’s doing, saying, singing, wearing and performing.

He's even exquisite as a PAINTING!!

HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY BRANDON!!!

As the song goes – my life – would suck – without you!
