It’s a Beautiful Day

There’s no other way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day IMO than with U2 of course. Two years ago today my mom and I bought our tickets to see 360 in Dublin which had basically been a dream of ours for 25 years. Last year I was a little sad about this anniversary, seeing that a year had already passed. This year I think of it more as the moment when I realized my dreams really can come true if I want them enough. I just have to MAKE them happen. And that’s what we did.

AND we were lucky enough to see them IN Boston ON St. Patrick’s Day AT the Boston Garden for ZooTV in 1992. Yes, that was just as insane as you would imagine it would be!

So check these out – my very first U2 tour shirts!! The Unforgettable Fire is from 1985 and The Joshua Tree is from 1987. They’re from before I even had boobs 😉 They’re all worn and torn and faded – but much loved. I have other shirts from other tours but these are the most special because they mark just how long I’ve loved these Irishmen:

I might actually be able to wear the UF shirt this summer! The other one not so much – the back is really in tatters!

  1. I love that you still have them because it shows a lot of devotion to them and when I saw them up close, I thought they actually aged really well! It’s a perfect part of your fangirl history 🙂

Wait until years from now when our Brandon shirts are all worn with age, but we’ll still wear them when he comes out with the “I’m 50 and Still Music’s Hottest Mofo Tour”!

  2. After all these years, the opening chords to Myserious Ways gives me chills.

They played at an Adelaide stadium a couple of years back and to say they electrified the place is an understatement.

  3. Here is my thought…So I got to thinking after reading Laura’s re-post of the Leprechaun cake, and your building of “Fairy Houses.” I think you ladies should build Brandon Flowers House/Traps all around the world. Little houses stocked with his favorite things would lure him in and then…WHOA…trapped. And you could keep him around for a while, punch air holes in the lid, and release him when you were ready.
