she liked Imaginary Men best of all

Mullen Monday: Good hair, bad hair edition

In all my years of Larry Mullen Jr. Crushdom there are only two things about him that I really really don’t like:

1. He smokes

2. This hair:

I don’t think I can adequately explain how much I hate this slicked back/long look. He first started doing it in 1989 for The Lovetown Tour which, thankfully, didn’t come to the States. I derisively call this look “Lovetown Hair” and he grows it out and sports it from time to time. And every time I hate it.

I like my Mullen hair short and spiky and hot. Like this:

  1. *sigh* Oh, Larry. I have been in love with this man since I was 14 years old.

I burst out laughing reading the first paragraph, because of all the wonderment LMJ brings to this earth, the two things I dislike about him is the fact that A) he smokes and B) his longish hair look.

Second photo of LMJ: so freaking handsome it is painful.

U2 is my comfort EVERYTHING. They were with me through my teens, my twenties and my thirties. I’ve never met them, they’ll never meet me, but I just want to send out a thank you to them for growing up with me and accompanying me through the good and bad.

  2. I too love the short and spiky look and hate the long look but in general most men look better with short hair

  3. I think in that first photo he’s on the phone with Paul McGuinness, who’s trying to convince him to cut his hair.

“Look Paul. I started this group, so I decide how my look goes. We can’t all wear tinted sunglasses to distinguish ourselves to the audience!”

  4. I’m not too bothered by the hair, because he’s such a great drummer. But speaking from a drummer’s perspective, short and spikey is a hell of a lot cooler on stage.
