Cute Boy Alert!!: Nicholas Hoult is the Ultimate Cute English Pretty Boy

I just watched A Single Man starring Oscar nominated Colin Firth as a gay man in 1960’s Los Angeles struggling with his grief over the death of his partner, played by the lovely Matthew Goode in flashbacks.

Colin is great, Tom Ford directed so the sets and clothes and everything are just pretty pretty pretty.

But nothing is as pretty as THIS GUY though:

This would be Nicholas Hoult. He plays Kenny, a student of Colin’s George Falconer who takes a shine to the heartbroken Professor and – well – he basically stalks him (my kinda boy!) Kenny’s moves include asking the department secretary for George’s address, wooing him with a pencil sharpener, then lurking outside his house snapping branches and following him into a bar where he then proposes that they  go skinny dip in the Pacific in the middle of the night.

Um – cute boys never do this to ME! Does one have to be a suicidal middle-aged gay man to get this kind of attention??!

So when this movie came out last year Nicholas got a lot of press because he was sweet, heartbreaking little Marcus in the wonderful About a Boy when he was little, and now he was all growed up and quite hot. As I was watching the movie I remembered he was in the show Skins that aired on BBCAmerica (a channel I do not watch nearly enough!) I think it had something to do with raunchy British teens which means I am PUTTING IT ON THE NETFLIX QUEUE RIGHT NOW!!

(I must credit Blogger Pal Julie for the always – at least to us – entertaining This Guy!)

  1. You need to join the BBC America bandwagon-not sure what my life would be like without Graham Norton!

I never saw the movie, but will have to investigate now. Perhaps all young British aspiring actors should audition for you first before they see the film directors 😉

  2. Thanks for the shout out, Amy! 🙂 It looks like “THIS GUY” will also be starring in the new X-Men prequel film as “THE BEAST”(the role Kelsey Grammer inhabited in the original films).

It’s kind of a bummer that his pretty face will be obscured in blue makeup and lots of facial hair for most of it . . . But it’s a good addition to his resume, nonetheless.

    • I did see that. Probably won’t see it though – comic book movies are not my thing (especially if cuteness is hidden by superhero make-up!) And on what planet would this hottie grow up to be Kelsey Grammer?? I’m just sayin’.

I wish you had been here to see me watching this movie! I was COMPLETELY ridiculous!! I kept murmuring “OMG this boy! THIS BOY IS SO CUTE!!!!” Then I called my mom and demanded to know why she had not forewarned me that SUCH a cute boy was in the movie – all floppy hair and stylish outfits and stripping down nekkid!

Yeah, this was probably not the “serious movie” reaction that Tom Ford was looking for ;-0
