Mullen Monday: The Final Chapter in the Larry Mullen Jr. Scorpion Shirt Saga

So last fall U2 did a YouTube broadcast of 360 at the Rose Bowl where Larry Mullen Jr. wore a t-shirt with a Scorpion design on the back:

My People!

After that one mention, I started getting a lot of traffic here looking for it so I did some research:

Scorpion t-shirts larry mullen, U2 drummer scorpion t shirt, t-shirt scorpion larry mullen jr.

I managed to make some headway with PR at Ali Hewson’s (i.e. Mrs. Bono) clothing company Edun:

Larry Mullen Jr. The Scorpion King

I even went to U2’s management office when I was in NYC to see if there was anyone there interested in a marketing opportunity:

Larry Mullen Scorpion Shirt: The Saga Continues

The lovely Bridget at Edun was kind enough to respond to my email in which I told her of all the people looking for the shirt and things looked hopeful:

Larry Mullen Jr.: Scorpion t-shirt UPDATE!!!

Then Larry had to go wear this shirt at the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame concert on HBO and I started getting searches here for that shirt as well:

Larry Mullen Jr. and those damn shirts

Then a few weeks ago the concert that started all this insanity was released on DVD and suddenly the traffic started flooding in again. So I took a tally of how many hits all these posts had garnered and contacted Edun one more time to update on the nearly 2,500 searches for these shirts that had come to this blog.

Bridget very nicely let me know that Edun will not be producing the shirt (nor will anyone else I assume, being that the design is owned by U2’s stylist who I would think would give first dibs to her employers before marketing elsewhere) and that “…it only lives on as a one of a kind.” Ahhh just like Mr. Mullen himself!

So there it is folks – take a nice look and either get crafty yourselves (and if you do – please let me know!) or kiss it goodbye. And thank you to Larry and this shirt for pretty much kickstarting this blog into high gear.

    • Hi Andy,
can you make me a t’shirt for my men ? I’m in France but i can pay for that ! Hope you will tell me Yes …

      • Zak – in case Andy doesn’t see this to reply: I already asked him and he’s not able to make any more at the moment 😦 Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Gday – that photo of Larry in the scorpion T-shirt… I took that! In Vegas in 2009 🙂

    Best wishes from Australia

    • Hi AB!

Thanks for finding me and for commenting. I will be posting about your site shortly! You have really amazing photos and your comments are hilarious. I appreciate you sharing the link and letting me keep the pic up!

  3. and the new shirt is equally awesome…turin

  4. I really like how they actually kept contact with you to let you know the shirt wasn’t going to be released. Like they didn’t say “Oh ANOTHER OBSESSED FAN AGAIN?! Let’s just pretend we never heard from her.” Way to go Ali for managing a staff who cares!

Again, while that picture shows off how great the shirt design is, it’s much better as a glimpse for Larry’s perfect backside!
