Friday it was announced that Bono had emergency back surgery in Germany, causing a postponement of the 360 Tour opener in Utah in two weeks.
My mom and I have tickets to see them in Seattle on June 20 – there is supposed to be another update/announcement today. I’m hoping the band and their well-oiled machine make a good, rational decision. Personally I don’t see how anyone can recover from back surgery in 4 weeks – particularly someone who runs, jumps and pulls folks out of the audience like Bono does. But I don’t have a ton of people, fans, and money riding on my (healing) shoulders either.
It reminds me of Mr. Mullen who had (scheduled) back surgery in 1995. While he recovered the band started working on Pop with a producer and drum machines. Needless to say, someone was not very happy to come home and find his band was off and running without him. He then had to start drumming again sooner than he should have which was not great for recovery.
What amuses me about this story is that 15 years later, he still seems kinda peeved about it!
Hey who let him back there?!
