Pacey + Noel + Dollywood = Hiatus Hijinks

Can it really be 10 years ago that The WB was at the height of its formidable Cheesy Teen Drama powers?! Wow. I guess because I still refer to Josh Jackson as “Pacey”, it seems only yesterday.

So I loved Felicity and I love/hated Dawson’s Creek and remember reading a hilarious interview in which Josh recounted a road-trip he and buddy Scott Foley took during a hiatus. They were driving through Tennessee and stopped at Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s amusement park. They found out that if you were applying for a job there, you could visit the park for free.

Apparently they loved this idea and despite being two guys of above-average-handsomeness and wads of WB cash burning holes in their pockets, they spent a free day playing and eating at Dollywood pretending they may want to work there.

Now my friends and I visited Dollywood on a cross-country trip after college and it was really, really fun. We were broke-ass post-grads though, I wish we’d known we just had to “apply ourselves”!

I cannot tell you how much fun we had at the Dixie Stampede “Dinner Attraction” where they serve you massive amounts of chicken and biscuits (with NO utensils!) and serve you beverages in jelly jars! Meanwhile this crazy show takes place with fire and pigs and bad acting. The audience sides are assigned “North” and “South” and you play games like passing flags down your section and at the end one side wins. You will likely not be shocked to know it seems rigged so the South always wins.

I wonder if the TV Boys did that.

  1. I totally want to go to Dollywood. My uncle (the cool one in LA) used to live in Northern Georgia and he made the trip there once. He sent me a little flashlight keychain with the Dollywood logo on the side and it was always on my keys until it broke. Sad day.

And naturally any place with massive amounts of chicken is fine by me.
