Today is my mom’s birthday. If you know my mom you know how cool she is, if you follow this blog you know she’s awesome.
She is the one who introduced me to U2 and we have gone to 21 of their shows together, 22 & 23 coming up this summer. This lyric from Where the Streets Have No Name has special meaning for us because we do U2 together, always have, always will.
Since 1987 she has listened to The Joshua Tree on her birthday. Last Christmas I gave her the anniversary box set which included a DVD of some goodies we had on tape, and goodies we’d never even seen. The video for Red Hill Mining Town was one of the discoveries. Let me tell you, my mom kinda went bananas. This is her Favorite Bono Incarnation of All Time. And the fact that he’s being sweaty and dramatic and wrapping himself around chains certainly sealed the deal.
So Happy Birthday to my Amazing Mom from me, and her “Dublin Dough Boy”!:
