So the final season of Lost begins this week. I can’t decide if I want to dedicate the time to it or not.
I loved the first season and then at some point in the third season (I think) I lost interest. I’ve watched on and off the rest of the seasons and I always watch the finales because Lost has the most kick-ass finales EVER. They are mind-blowing and even if I’m not following the show, I still tune in for the finale.
I feel like my interest waned for two reasons: Where were they? Would they get off? When they kinda answered the first question and definitively answered the second I think I just went “eh”. Also it is so dense and so many clues and six years with big breaks between seasons – it is hard to keep track of all the little visual and cryptic clues for all that time. Last season it was easier to watch the “enhanced” versions the following week because there is no way I am going to remember some little trinket on the beach belonged to Rousseau in S1! And it has to be said – I cannot stand Jack or Kate.
The reasons I may watch include:
- So I can understand Facebook status updates after new episodes
- To see if they can pull off a satisfying conclusion to an often brilliant, often frustrating show
- The island looks so damn pretty in high-def in the commercials
