So last night was the closet show on Ovation TV that was going to feature Larry Mullen Jr.’s closet on it. Sadly I do not have this channel, but happily I have a Sister Obsessive who does. She recorded it for me and emailed an update this morning.
Now as much as I was totally excited that we may actually see Larry’s house (ok – maybe just his closet), I was kind of suprised. I mean, he is very private and the idea of him throwing open his doors to a TV crew just seemed odd. One of the (many, oh so many) things I love about LMJ is that he is solid. He makes a decision and sticks by it even if it is unpopular. I believe in U2 and their circles he’s known as the “one who says no.” So for him to keep his personal and home life private from the public for 30 years then do something like this, it seemed kind of un-Mullen-like.
My Sister Obsessive reports he was interviewed in a theater about wardrobe staples among which he talked about “white t-shirts”, “jeans” and “sunglasses” which makes me laugh because – hello?? That was his “uniform” for nearly a decade. See? Solid as a fucking rock, that’s my boy.
