NPH kicks my birthday off right!

So far Birthday Week has been awesome: Breakfast at IKEA to start, Stalkathon NYC edition, The Brandon Box and Larry Cakes, lots of friends and good food in the city, lots of cards and my sweet birthday check from my grandmother when I got home, and my department at work has been saved from closing. Pretty good, right?

Then Tuesday BW got better: my mom got us U2 tickets in NJ in July for Show #22, everyone was congratulating me because I got a promotion that was announced yesterday while I was out, I had a meeting with my boss that was so insanely complimentary I felt like I needed a pinch (the sentences “you exceed our expectations” and “don’t change anything you’re doing” were uttered!), so come Jan 1 I will have a new title, new reponsibilities and a new salary!

Those two things alone are amazing enough. But then just before midnight my mom made her customary call to be the first to wish me Happy Birthday and to tell me Neil Patrick Harris was going to be on Conan! Just after midnight The Emperor of Awesome was on! Wheeeee!! What a great way to start off my actual day of birth.

He was, of course delightful, charming, funny, handsome, well-dressed, and entertaining. I found out from a friend this weekend who works in entertainment that by all accounts – this is not an act. NPH is truly all he seems to be which I was delighted to hear. I hate loving a celeb then finding out they’re actually an asshole. So far Neil has done nothing to disappoint me and this interview was no different.

From his use of the words “pervy” and “skeevy” to his photo and description of he and his boyfriend dressing as “Foppish British Zombies” to go to Halloween at the Playboy Mansion, his flirting with crew members on HIMYM and slipping into “Bro Code” with straight guys, to how he uses the term “tang” – good lord he is wonderful.

If I find it up on YT or NBC I will stick the clip here. Everyone needs a little NPH in their life, birthday or not.
