While I wait on Larry’s shirt, here’s mine

Sitting in Dublin airport after our U2 show this summer my mom sent me to go ask a guy on our flight where he got his t-shirt. It looked like this:

He said when he saw them perform during the Vertigo tour on Larry’s birthday (coming up this weekend!) the band all came out in these in honor of their original name (that lasted for about five minutes.)

As soon as I touched back down in the states and had my US data plan again, I googled and found a site selling them. I wanted one to wear to the U2 conference this month. But by the time I went to order a month later, the site didn’t carry them anymore.

So I took matters into my own hands. I had made our U2::20 shirts already so I knew what to do. Unfortunately printing on the black was going to be a pain in the ass so I went with pink. It came out great and I did wear it to the conference. I got a lot of compliments and questions about it, which allowed me to explain the origin and deliver my impassioned 26-Years-in-the-Making-Dissertation-on-Why-I-love-Larry-Mullen-Jr.

The day after I wore it a guy who had approached me about it sought me out again. There had been a clip during a presentation that he wanted to be sure I saw and get my reaction on it. This was it:

It was at this point in the conversation that I realized that I was now known as “The Larry Mullen Girl” by some of my conference companions which is totally frickin’ awesome.

I mean, stalking his damn shirt must qualify me for that at least!
