Well that’s a number I didn’t need to know

Last night while adjusting my YouTube account to always play in HQ when available and stop asking me all the time, I noticed that there is a count of how many videos I’ve watched: somewhere in the vicinity of just under 1400!!

Wow. I wonder if that counts multiple plays of a single video because, ahem, I’ve been known to do that occassionally (i.e. ALOT). I’m not going to calculate how much time that adds up to that I will never get back in my life. Although if I did know I doubt that would stop me from spending more hours on it every week.

I frequently tell people that if YT had existed when I was a teen I would have never left the house, never graduated, never done anything except stare at video mash-ups and fanvids until my eyes lolled out of my head and my ass melted into the couch. I don’t know how Kids Today do it.

To quote Neil Patrick Harris when recounting how many silly apps he has on his iPhone: “I could be reading books.”

  1. 4,257, baby — I joined March 13, 2006. If this number was broken down by type of video, though, you’d notice an astonishing number of Sesame Street videos in this awful number.

    • Wow you put ne to shame!! If you broke mine down you’d find a high incidence of XF fan vids and more recently LOTS of Killers clips!

  2. does watching the colin firth lake scene over and over again count?or colin farrell on ballykissangel?
