September has been an insane month of entertainment excitement. It started with The Killers show in Boston on Labor Day weekend which birthed the whole Brandon Flowers obsession. There were the final episodes of True Blood S2 (9 months HBO? Really?) Then the new TV season started and I am loving new shows (Vampire Diaries, Glee) and returning ones (Fringe, The Office) and very excited for the ones that haven’t premiered yet (How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory)
Tonight are the Emmy’s. I love award shows, particularly award shows about television. But tonight is extra exciting because Neil Patrick Harris is hosting which guarantees amazingness. I have been wanting him to host since last year’s debacle when he got in one of the only entertaining lines of the night (“because of Howie Mandel’s prattling our bit has been cut”) I’m hosting a NPH Themed Emmy party tonight and am delirious over the rumor there may be a “Dr. Horrible” opening number which means Nathan Fillion and NPH!! I may choke on my m&m’s (which granted, is not a bad way to go.)
Tomorrow night is U2 at Foxboro. Not just any U2 show, oh no – this is the 20th U2 show my mom and I have been to. Every single one of them together stretching back to 1985’s “Unforgettable Fire Tour” to this summer in Dublin for our dream-come-true-concert/trip of a lifetime. I even made shirts! Going to see U2 for us is an entirely different post but needless to say I cannot wait for the show and to be reunited with my boys.
While we’re screaming our heads off at Gillette, Monday night shows premiere! HIMYM, BBT and Castle which is a promising show mostly because of the aforementioned Nathan Fillion (himself a whole other post). In fact the U2/Monday Night Premiere Conflict was pretty much the catalyst for why I got the DVR.
On Tuesday Pearl Jam’s new CD “Backspacer” comes out. Somehow between travelling back home and getting my wits about me from U2::20, I have to get to a store to pick this up. Thank GOD they are not touring here yet. Bono is doing enough damage to the credit cards without Eddie weighing in for his share. Hopefully they can give us something to look forward to in the spring.
I am not sure when I am going to find time to sleep or work this week. Next weekend I have to work and the Big E is here!! So no sleep there. Then it is October and the U2 conference happens and I’m off again.
Such is the life of an entertainment junkie – so much to feast from!
