she liked Imaginary Men best of all

Monchichi Monchichi!

At Newbury Comics today I saw this:

Dread Pirate Monchichi 002HOW MUCH did I love my Monchichi? Of all the loads of my childhood toys in my attic I can’t believe I did not keep this doll.

Mine was kind of a transgender Monchichi in that I would sometimes push her topknot down and tie the bib around her head like a visor. Then she’d look like the boy Monchichi (on his way to deal cards at some sort of wacky stuffed animal poker game.)

“Monchichi Monchichi, oh so soft and cuddly, put a thumb in her mouth she’s really neat, fun to play with her little feet, la la la, la la la, Monchichi Monchichi!!”**

**commercial jingle courtesy of my own memory and not Google! Alarming, right?

Hey what’s with that spelling?

  1. I just, stumbled upon your Monchichi article, and thought you might enjoy this:

(You were pretty right on with the jingle. Good memory!)

Oh, and then there was this:

When I first saw the title to your post, I actually thought you were going to be writing about Spencer Pratt, as he has been nicknamed Monchichi by a few comedians and bloggers of late. A major insult to the Monchichi, I think!

    • That first video made me both laugh and cringe – that I frickin’ remember the damn jingle so well!

The second one creeped me out :-p

I will never ever post about Spencer Pratt or any of his ilk. And that IS an insult to monchichi’s!

  2. Amy I don’t know the cartoon. I have no idea why. Probably bc I couldn’t tear myself away from Bugs Bunny!

I am sorely tempted to buy myself one just for the hell of it.

  3. If you remember the theme song from the Saturday morning cartoon, you will be my hero! All I can remember is the “MON chichi, mon CHIchi” part…
